James Anthony “Tony” Spagnola, Sr., resident of the Moscow Community, United States Veteran and husband of Sandra Spagnola, departed this life Friday evening, January 31, 2014 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville where he had been a patient since December 19th. He was 68 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance with Military Honors for Mr. Spagnola were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, February 5th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Mike Crouch of Oakland, former pastor of the Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Spagnola was born April 20, 1945 in Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony James Spagnola and Louise Collins Spagnola. He received his education in the Tucson, Arizona Public School System and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Period. He was married December 28, 1966 to the former Sandra Ann Sisco, who survives.
Mr. Spagnola was a Catholic and will be remembered as a patriotic person who loved the United States of America. He was involved in the construction business for much of his life and retired seven years ago for health reasons. He had been a resident of the Moscow Community for the past 17 years and his interests included fishing, building model cars and watching favorite old western movies on television.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, Mr. Spagnola is survived by two daughters, Donna Parmely (Bobby) of Moscow, Sandra Williams (Jerry) of Bartlett; two sons, Tim Spagnola (Alma) of Memphis, Anthony Spagnola of Moscow; five grandsons, ten great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Joseph Allen, Jimmy Allen, Anthony Spagnola, Nick Spagnola, Jeremy Parmely, Jason Parmely, Raheem Anders and Daniel Melendez.
