ADALINE PATTAT YELVINGTON

May 7, 1918 — May 13, 2010

ADALINE PATTAT YELVINGTON, longtime resident of the Belmont Community in Fayette County and wife of the late James S. Yelvington departed this life Thursday afternoon , May 13, 2010 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for four days. She was 92 years of age and died following an extended illness.

A Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Yelvington was conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, May 17th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Dr. Tim Foster of the Highland Heights Presbyterian Church in Memphis, officiating. Interment followed in the Hebron Cemetery in the Bethlehem Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Yelvington was born May 7, 1918 in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Amos Pattat and the late Florence Steward Pattat. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. Ms. Yelvington was married for 68 years to James S. Yelvington who died May 15, 1991.

Mrs. Yelvington was a homemaker throughout her life and was associated with her husband in the operation of the family farm.

She was a member of the Mason Baptist Church and will be remembered as an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers. Ms. Yelvington was one of the oldest living members of her community, maintaining her home and enjoying her garden until her recent illness. She enjoyed participating in area antique automobile club activities that included displaying the antique vehicles that Mr. and Mrs. Yelvington owned for many years.

Mrs. Yelvington is survived by three daughters: Magadaline Tapp (Bobby) of Mason, Martha Sharp (Bobby) of Bartlett and Betty Garrison (Wayne) of Covington; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand-daughter.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Bradley Evans, Matthew Garrison, Hewitt Perkins, Walter Pinner, Holt Tapp and Randal Tapp.
