AGNES ROGERS CAMPBELL, a resident of Somerville, former longtime resident of the Whiteville Community and wife of the late Frank J. Campbell died at 11:05 P.M. Friday, April 24, 2009 at the National Healthcare Center in Somerville where she had resided for three years. She was 86 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Campbell were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, April 27th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with her son-in-law, Carl Doyle, officiating. Special remarks, reflections and music were provided by Mrs. Campbell's daughter, grandsons and a granddaughter's husband. Interment followed with a Graveside Service at 3 p.m. in the Crowell Chapel Cemetery near Scotts Hill, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Campbell was born August 24, 1922 in Henderson County Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Rogers and Martha Lockhart Rogers.
She was married July 20, 1938 to Frank J. Campbell, Owner of Campbell Well & Drilling Service and Whiteville area Farmer before his death.
Mrs. Campbell was a devoted homemaker throughout her life and was associated with her husband in their farming operation. She was an accomplished Seamstress and served as a Supervisor for the Salant & Salant Company and the H.I.S. Company in Somerville and Whiteville for a number of years before her retirement.
She was a dedicated Christian and a resident of the Dancyville Community before moving to Whiteville where she resided for forty-six years.
Known for her kind, soft-spoken mannerisms and unconditional love for her family and friends, Mrs. Campbell received much joy from preparing food for her immediate and extended family members.
She will be remembered for her gentle demeanor and concern for others, she enjoyed flower gardening, fishing and nature.
The last remaining of three siblings, survivors of Mrs. Campbell include a daughter, Shirley Campbell Dickerson (Barry) of Parsons, TN; a son, Ronnie Campbell of Whiteville; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margie Doyle; a son, J. R. Campbell and a granddaughter, Kim Wright.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Jason Campbell, Tim Campbell, Keith Dickerson, Bryce Doyle, Butch Doyle, Chip Griffith, Jonathan Inman and Tyler Inman.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Hardeman/Fayette County Chapters of the American Heart Association.
