Albert Hugh Crisp, Sr.
1920—2010
Albert Hugh Crisp, Sr., longtime resident of the Braden Community, U.S. Veteran, and husband of the late Frances Louise Burgess died Thursday evening, December 23, 2010 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett where he had been a patient for four days.
He was 90 years of age and died following a one month illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Crisp were conducted at 1 PM Monday, December 27
th
at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Donald McCulley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dresden, Tennessee, officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Walls Cemetery at Braden, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Crisp was born in the Braden area on August 10, 1920 to Hughley Y. Crisp and Lera McKnight Crisp who preceded him in death. A 1938 graduate of Fayette County High School in Somerville, Mr. Crisp served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. On May 9, 1946, Mr. Crisp married the former Frances Louise Burgess of Fayette County, who preceded him in death on March 5, 2003.
Mr. Crisp was lifelong resident of Fayette County and was a farmer and landowner for many years before his retirement. In later years he served as Post Master for the Gallaway, TN Post Office. Active in community, religious and agricultural affairs throughout his life, Mr. Crisp was a devoted member of the Gallaway First Baptist Church where he served in numerous church capacities as well as a Sunday School Teacher for sixty years. He was a longtime Mason and a member of the Arlington Masonic Lodge. Mr. Crisp served on the Walls Cemetery Association Board for many years and also served as treasurer of the organization.
Survivors of Mr. Crisp include his son, Al Crisp (Cindy) of Braden, his grandchildren, Kit Crisp of Braden, Dan Crisp of Cabot, AR, Joe Hutchinson of Horn Lake, MS, Ali Crisp of Braden and four great-grandchildren.
