Albert Glover, Jr.

September 24, 1943 — February 15, 2017

Albert Glover, Jr., age 73, resident of Oakland, departed this life Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital after a short illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Glover were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Rickey Burns, pastor of the Williston Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Glover was born September 24, 1943 in Fayette County, Tennessee. He received his education at the Tech High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He was employed by Holiday Inn Woodcraft for 25 years. He retired from Pittco in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Glover loved the New York Yankees and enjoyed fishing and gardening, but his passion was going to flea markets.

Mr. Glover is survived by two sons, Terry Glover (Shawna) of Memphis, TN, Jeff Glover (Pamela) of Cordova, TN; his mother, Georgia McQueen Laughter of Somerville, TN; his stepmother, Lavern Glover of Southaven, MS; his longtime companion and friend, Carol Ferguson of Pennsylvania; his siblings, Jimmy Laughter, Lorie Laughter Cagle, George Peyton (Nita), Cindy Glover Ware (Jeff); his father-in-law, Charles L. Thompson of Memphis, TN; and seven grandchildren, Allen Glover (Devon), Brittany Turnmire (Blake), Haley Rowe, Ashley Glover, Jackie Glover, Dylan Glover and Dustin Glover.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Thompson Glover; his father, Albert Glover, Sr.; his daughter, Diane Glover Rowe and her husband, Ron Rowe; his grandparents, James and Clara McQueen; and his brothers, David Laughter and Dale Glover.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Dylan Glover, Gene Hastings, Tommy McQueen, Lawrence Murrell, Blake Turnmire and Jeff Ware.
