Albert Sommers Kelley, Jr., age 82, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Ann Hill Kelley, departed this life Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.
Albert was born October 15, 1940 in Whiteville, Tennessee, the son of Mary Buckner Kelley and the late Albert Sommers “Pete” Kelley, Sr. He graduated from Whiteville High School in 1959 and was employed as a sewing machine mechanic at Somerville Manufacturing Company for 20 years and Master Slacks for 25 years before his retirement. Mr. Kelley was a member of Whiteville Baptist Church.
He was married August 5, 1970 to Ann Hill Kelley. Albert enjoyed working on old cars and fixing up race cars. He enjoyed taking weekend trips to the Tennessee River and watching westerns. He was an animal lover and had a great fondness for his boy “Jackson”. He always loved visits from his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Kelley is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann Hill Kelley; his son, Kevin B. Treadway (Sherry); three sisters, Mary Evelyn Doyle of Whiteville, TN, Lois Hurst (Leon) of Bethel Springs, TN and Betty Cartwright of Selmer, TN; six grandchildren, Kevin M. Treadway (Brandy), Chelsea McQueen (Joshua), Jessica Kelley, Wendy Cole McCoy, Rachel Cole Williams and Michael Hammons; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Trace Treadway, Calli Rae Treadway, Paisley McQueen, Mileigh McQueen, Natalie McQueen, Cameron Morris, Travis Hamilton, Cruz Cole McCoy, Wesson Williams, Kimber Williams, Taylor Hammons, Tucker Hammons and Rowan James Hammons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Sommers “Pete” Kelley, Sr.; two daughters, Lisa Cole and Julie Kelley; his son, Jason Kelley; three brothers, Roy Kelley, Douglas Kelley and Larry Kelley; and two grandchildren, Peyton Sommers Adams and Candice Treadway.
Funeral Services for Mr. Kelley were held at 2 P.M. Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Mr. Kelley’s son, Bro. Kevin Treadway, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Kevin M. Treadway, Joshua McQueen, Jeremy Griffin, Drew Griffin, Kelly Morris and Michael Graber.
