Oakland, Tennessee

Albert Glenn Monk, age 77, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Susan Lee Monk, departed this life Friday morning, July 5, 2024 at his home.

Albert was born October 3, 1946 in Sydney, Nebraska, the son of the late Albert Miles Monk and Mary Lu Karnes Monk. He graduated from Haines City High School in Florida and served his country in Vietnam for two years in the United States Army. He was a member of Local 167 Iron Workers Union for 53 years. Albert was a member of Pleasants Christian Church in Rossville. He loved working in his shop, building furniture and wells, and making many cherished memories with his grandchildren.

Mr. Monk is survived by his wife, Susan Lee Monk of Oakland, TN; three daughters, Joell Davis (David) of Brighton, TN, Kimberly Cook (James) of Crestview, FL and Amy Tassin of Memphis, TN; his son, David Monk (Heather) of Oklahoma; his sister, Eva Marie Jordan (Kevin) of Fort White, FL; three brothers, Randy Monk of Haines City, FL, Mark Monk (Gretchen) of Davenport, FL and Robert Monk (Cindy) of Haines City, FL; ten grandchildren, Kristopher, Alexis, Ryan, Aaron, Tanner, Brooke, Preston, Jade, Dakota and Chase; a host of nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren; and his beloved pets, Gurdy and Puddy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Tassin.

Funeral Services for Mr. Monk were held at 10 A.M. Friday, July 12, 2024 at Pleasants Christian Church near Rossville with Pastor James Weir officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in Pleasants Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were David Davis, Ryan Kilby, Jim Cook, Chase Monk, Kristopher Austin and Tanner Davis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Pleasants Cemetery Association, 235 Linwood Drive, Rossville, TN 38066 or Carl Perkins Center for Prevention of Child Abuse, 101 Kay Drive, Somerville, TN 38068.
