Albert J.T. Thompson

Albert J.T. Thompson, age 87, resident of Somerville, Tennessee, departed this life Thursday afternoon, October 26, 2023 at his home.

Albert was born September 22, 1936 in Fayette County, Tennessee, the son of the late Elmer Allen Thompson and Bessie Pearl Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, L.T. Thompson and his sister, Elmer Ruth McNabb.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his life partner of 43 years, Ruth Wilson; their daughter, Elizabeth Thompson (Andy) and granddaughter, Makayla Thompson. He also leaves his children, Pamela Johnson, Deborah Thompson (Mike), Albert Ray Thompson (Christy), Jeff Thompson (Kim) and Billie Michelle Thompson Watkins (Jason); nine grandchildren, three great-granddaughters and many other kids he meant a lot to in their life growing up.

Albert worked at the sawmill and with the State of Tennessee and Fayette County Public Works before his retirement. He enjoyed time with his family and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, animals, cutting wood and piddling with stuff. He was a “jack-of-all-trades” and would say “live life to the fullest, enjoying everything in your path – we are just passing through”.

Funeral Services for Mr. Thompson were held at 2 P.M. Monday, October 30, 2023 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Kevin Treadway officiating. Remarks were given by Leon Watkins. Interment followed in Mt. Olive Cemetery in the District 15 Community.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jason Watkins, Christian Allen, Johnathan Walls, Brandon Lewis, Cole Spicer and Austin Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Redford Thompson, John Thompson and Andy Parks.
