ALBERT WRIGHT, a resident of Southaven, Mississippi, former resident of the Eads Community and husband of Jackie Wright died at 7:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for five weeks. He was 62 years of age and died following a three-month illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Wright were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, January 30th at the Graveside with Dr. Kenneth Culver, Pastor of the Warren Community Church at Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Eads Cemetery at Eads, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Wright was born November 28, 1946 in Shelby County. He was the son of the late Arthur Wright and Annie Mae Seagraves Wright, early residents of the Eads area. He was educated in the Shelby County Public School System and had been employed as a Forklift Operator for the CreativeCo-Op Home decorating business of Memphis since 1988 and remained active with the company until his recent illness.
He was a former resident of Nesbit, Mississippi and had been a resident of Southaven for the past nine years. Mr. Wright was of the Baptist faith and was married February 14, 1991 to the former Jackie Wallis, an employee of the Aerospace Products of Southaven, who survives.
Mr. Wright will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and nature. He was known for his love of cooking for family and friends and his specialties were barbecue, chili and soup.
He was a devoted family-oriented person who will be greatly missed by his family and his ever present canine companion, "Starlin".
In addition to his wife, Mr. Wright is survived by two sons, Alex Wright of Williston and Kenneth Wright of Ottawa, IL; his step-daughter, Jennifer Richardson of Arlington; his step-son, Randy Vandervort of Lewisville, TX; three sisters: Ann McCulley of Arlington; Kay Smith of Memphis and Sue Larence of Waynesboro, TN; his brother, "Bubba" Wright of Cordova; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Timmy Holden, Bill McCulley, Alex Richardson, Michael Richardson, Dean Smith and Dallas Wright.
