Alice Paden
1933—2011
Alice Dean Pittman Paden, resident of Woodville Community in Haywood County with extended family members in Fayette County and associated with the banking and real estate industry in Memphis for many years departed this life Friday morning, May 13, 2011 at the residence of her daughter in the Woodville Community. She was 77 years of age and died following a lengthy illness.
Services honoring the life of Mrs. Paden were conducted at 2 PM Thursday, May 19 th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Chaplin Mark Pendergrass of AseraCare Hospice in Jackson, TN, officiating. Graveside services followed at 2 PM Friday, May 20 th at the Fakes Chapel Cemetery in McCrory, Arkansas. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Paden was born August 11, 1933 in McFadden Community in Woodruff County, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late John Pittman and the late Lavinia Fraser Pittman. She was educated in the Woodruff County Public School System and served as Valedictorian of her High School Graduating Class in 1952.
Shortly after her high school graduation, Mrs. Paden moved to Memphis where she pursued her career in banking and real estate. She was formerly associated with the National Bank & Commerce, Leader Federal Savings & Loan and the Percy Galbreath Real Estate Company in Memphis after her retirement Mrs. Paden was employed by the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the ALSAC Program.
Mrs. Paden was a devoted Christian and a member of the Broadmoor Baptist Church in Memphis for many years. She was married to Eugene Lindley Paden who preceded her in death on February 14, 2008. In 2005, she moved to Woodville Community to be near her daughter. Mrs. Paden will be remembered as an avid reader who enjoyed shopping, telephone conversations with friends, raising exotic animals and special times with her family.
Mrs. Paden is survived by her daughter, Nancy Regina Bain of Woodville Community and a number of extended family members. Family members and friends served as casketbearers. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fakes Chapel Cemetery Association, c/o Linda Fraser, 3903 Highway 17, McCrory, AR 72101.
