ALMA OWENS TICE, lifelong resident of Fayette County and resident of the Moscow Community for much of her life died Sunday morning, January 31, 2010 at her residence. She was 71 years of age and died unexpectedly.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tice were conducted at 3 P.M. Tuesday, February 2nd at the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Moscow with Rev. David Parlow, Pastor of the church, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Tony Watkins. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Tice was born October 10, 1938 in the Moscow Community. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Owens and Ollie Mae Skelton Owens, early residents of the Moscow area.
She was educated in the Fayette County Public School system and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville.
Mrs. Tice was a longtime member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and was employed in the office of the Troxel Manufacturing Company in Moscow for thirty years before her retirement in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, William "Ducy" Tice, Moscow Police Officer who died in 1989.
Mrs. Tice will be remembered for her love of her family and received many hours of pleasure from being with and caring for her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Working in her yard and being busy at home were her favorite pastimes.
Survivors of Mrs. Tice include two sons, William Michael "Mike" Tice of Nashville and Jeffery Ray Tice of Moscow; two sisters, Sadie Yager of Missouri and Alva Jewell Brewer of Arkansas; her brother, Alton "Ruff" Owens of Moscow; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Mae Tice in May of 2009.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Brian Garrans, Noe Gonzalez, Ronald Tice, Gary Taylor, Gary "Foots" Taylor and Keith Owens.
Honorary casket bearers were Johnnie Hailey, Terry Tice and Jacob Kennon.
