Alvin Cameron Lazenby

October 20, 1933 — January 23, 2013

Alvin Cameron Lazenby, resident of Mars, Pennsylvania, a native of Fayette County and United States Army Veteran died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was 79 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance with Military Honors for Mr. Lazenby were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 30th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Ricky Burns, pastor of the Williston Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Lazenby was born October 20, 1933 in the Williston Community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Lehmond Lazenby and Marguerite Diggs Lazenby. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and served his country in the United States Army in earlier years. After his Military Discharge, he became a resident of Pennsylvania, where he lived for much of his life.

Mr. Lazenby was a Methodist and was employed by the Vogels Corporation of Mars, Pennsylvania for a number of years before his retirement. He was a collector of vintage firearms and had a passion for anything mechanical. He also enjoyed collecting and repairing vintage tractors. A resident of Pennsylvania for many years, Mr. Lazenby requested that he be returned to Fayette County, the place that he loved, for his “final resting place”.

Mr. Lazenby’s survivors include his sister, Dorothy Nell Oliver and her husband, Frank Oliver of Collierville; three nephews, John Mitchell Oliver of Collierville, James Michael Oliver of Oakland, Gary Wayne Oliver of Williston; three great nieces and six great nephews.

Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Evergreen Cemetery Association, c/o Betty Burch, 1109 Oak Timber Circle, Collierville, TN 38017.
