Andrew Logan Tate, son of Mona and Jimmy Tate of the Hickory Withe Community and student at Fayette Academy in Somerville passed away Saturday morning, July 9, 2011. He was 15 years of age and died unexpectedly of an accident.
Celebration of Life Services were conducted at 3 PM Wednesday, July 13th at Fayette Academy, Samuel Garner Gymnasium in Somerville with Bro. Daniel Jerkins, Youth Minister at the First Baptist Church Hickory Withe, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by the Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes – West Chapel of Oakland.
Andrew was born March 11, 1996 in Memphis to Jimmy Guy Tate and Mona Maness Tate. He was a student at Fayette Academy and an active member of the Fayette Academy Viking Band. A Christian, Andrew extended his love of life and Jesus to the members of the First Baptist Church Hickory Withe Youth Group and the students in his Vacation Bible School Class.
With so much more life to live, it is with great sorrow he leaves behind a sister: Lora Lee Phillips (Mason) of Ozark, MO; a brother: Adam Ross Tate of Memphis; his maternal grandmother: Bevolee Maness of Oakland; paternal grandmother: Betty Tate of Memphis; a niece and nephew: Anna and James Phillips; an aunt: Sherry Markowitz (Steve); uncles: Bobby Maness (Scarlett), Jeff Maness (Stephanie) and Richard Tate.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: James Maness and Howard Tate.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Charlie Fridlund, Kyle Maness, Lance Newcomb, Brian Scott, Allen Wasmund and Hunter Wasmund.
