Ann (Box) Curtis

Ann Box Curtis, age 82, departed this life Thursday morning, March 9, 2017 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Curtis were conducted at 3 P.M. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel with Bro. John Ed Watkins, pastor of the Mercy Bridge Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Curtis was born October 18, 1934 in Baldwyn, Mississippi, the daughter of the late James Monroe “Jim” Box and the late Mattie Mae Smith Box. She received her education in the Fayette County School System and was a longtime resident of the Fayette County area. She was married August 8, 1965 to Alvin E. Conrad, who preceded her in death on September 10, 1999. She was married August 26, 2002 to Charles D. “Tony” Curtis. Mrs. Curtis was employed as a seamstress at Somerville Manufacturing for 12 years and was a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed going to church and was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church. Listening to gospel music, special times with her family and friends and preparing food were favorite pastimes.

Mrs. Curtis is survived by her husband, Charles D. “Tony” Curtis of Somerville, TN; her daughter, Trudie Arndt (Gary) of Rossville, TN; her sister, Faye Partain of Somerville, TN; her brother, Jim Box of Middleton, TN; four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph E. Box and Smith D. Box.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Darell Kelley, Gerald Kelley, Bryce Doyle, Bob Pittman, John Paul Pittman and Ricky Crihfield.
