Ann (Goodrum) Head

Ann Goodrum Head, age 85, resident of Somerville and wife of the late Webster E. “Junior” Head, died Monday afternoon, April 9, 2018 at the National Healthcare Center in Somerville.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Head was held at 4 P.M. Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Oakland Church of Christ located at 35 McAuley Street in Oakland. The officiant was Greg Artz, minister of Oakland Church of Christ. Family remarks were given by Mrs. Head's son-in-law, Tim Stanz and the song leader was Dwight Albright of the Park Avenue Church of Christ in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Head was born February 2, 1933 in Black Rock, Arkansas. She was a 1951 graduate of Hoxie High School in Hoxie, Arkansas and was a longtime resident of the East Memphis area. She was a homemaker throughout her life and most recently a resident of Fayette County for 2-½ years. Mrs. Head was a member of Oakland Church of Christ and enjoyed attending and having garage sales, home shopping and spoiling her cats. She was an avid reader. She will also be remembered for her generosity to others. She was a proud grandmother who was involved in raising both grandsons.

Mrs. Head is survived by her son, David Earl Head of Somerville, TN; her daughter, Cathy Head Stanz (Tim) of Somerville, TN; two grandchildren, Matthew Head (Samantha), Julian Stanz (Kayla); and three great-grandchildren, Gracie Head, Bella Head and Christopher Matthew Head.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Webster E. “Junior” Head; her parents, Cecil Franklin Goodrum and Lillian Cathaleen Haulcroft Goodrum; her sister, Peggy Caroline Goodrum; and two brothers, Cecil Dale Goodrum and Gary Nathan Goodrum.

The family requests that memorials be directed to any No Kill Animal Shelter of the donor’s choice.
