Ann (Dunn) Kirk

June 22, 1936 — January 21, 2014

Dera Ann Dunn Kirk, resident of the Oakland Community, retired from the freight and transportation industry and husband of Gordon N. Kirk, departed this life Tuesday evening, January 21, 2014 at her residence. She was 77 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Kirk were conducted at 2 P.M., Saturday, January 25th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Kent Bailey of Somerville officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Kirk was born June 22, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry V. Dunn, Sr. and Annie Lou Wilbanks Dunn. She received her education in the Birmingham, Alabama Public School System and was a graduate of the Ensley High School in Birmingham. She was a former resident of Marietta, Georgia, had been a resident of Fayette County since 1969 and resided in the Oakland Community for the past 17 years.

Mrs. Kirk was a member of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church and associated with the freight and transportation industry for much of her life. In earlier years, she served as a traffic officer for the International Harvester Company in Memphis and also served as a freight bill auditor for Aimes Logistics in Collierville. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed activities that involved her grandchildren including sports and school events. Mrs. Kirk enjoyed caring for her yard and computer games.

Mrs. Kirk is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gordon N. Kirk; her son, Barry Pate (Patricia) of Hickory Withe; her stepdaughter, Patty Cale of Dalton, GA; three stepsons, Rodney Kirk of Arlington, TN, Chip Kirk of Dalton, GA, Jeff Kirk of Dalton, GA; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 44, Rossville, TN 38066 or the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, 17675 Highway 196, Eads, TN 38028.
