Anne-Marie Theresa Guay DeVuyst, Memphis resident and sister of Pauline (Polly) Fadgen of Oakland died Monday morning, October 15, 2012 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for three days. She was 60 years of age and died following an illness of one year.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. DeVuyst were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 23rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Loyd Shelton of Rossville officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. DeVuyst was born November 21, 1951 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aurelien E. Guay and Aurise E. Harpin Guay. She received her education in the Rhode Island Public School System and moved to the Memphis area 15 years ago. She was married March 11, 1973 to Ronald Rodger DeVuyst, who survives. Mrs. DeVuyst served as a secretary for The Pool School of Memphis, a swimming pool instruction company for 15 years.
She was a Christian and an avid sports fan with a special love for the New England Patriots, the Tennessee Titans and the Memphis Tigers Basketball Program. She enjoyed reading and vacationing at Plymouth Beach in the New England states.
In addition to her husband of 39 years, Mrs. DeVuyst is survived by her daughter, Neile L. Connery (James) of Leicester, MA; her son, Ryan R. DeVuyst (Anna) of Cordova; two sisters, Jeannine Jalbert of Naples, FL, Pauline (Polly) Fadgen of Oakland; four brothers, Bertrand Guay of Mission, TX, Rene Guay of Ashland, MA, Denis Guay of Mission, TX, Charles Guay of Glendale, RI; and five grandchildren.
Mrs. DeVuyst was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Guay.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
