Anne Morris Carr, age 85, resident of Valdosta, Georgia and formerly of Somerville, Tennessee, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Langdale Place in Georgia. She was born on April 23, 1938, in Somerville, Tennessee to the late Fate and Lucille (Chambers) Morris. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Gene Carr.
Anne was a dedicated wife, mother, and beloved Mimi. She had a deep faith in God, a love for God's scripture and teaching Bible studies. She was a southern girl at heart but grew to love her friends and church family in New Jersey. Gene and Anne were part of the founding members of two Southern Baptist churches in New Jersey: Flemington Baptist Church and Bridgewater Baptist Church.
Anne dedicated over 15 years of her life as an administrative assistant with Graffiti Ministries in New York City. Following her move to the Villages, Florida, she served as the teaching director at the Community Bible Study leaving a lasting impact for Christ on those around her. Anne had a profound love for coffee – one could say it was a triple passion – along with an appreciation for gospel music, line dancing and enjoying heartwarming moments on the Hallmark Channel. Her vibrant spirit and dedication to family and community will be cherished and remembered.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Vivian Sultis, Petsey Bedwell and Bettye Bryson and two brothers, Fate Morris, Jr., and Carlton Morris.
Survivors Include her daughter, Genia Carr Rogers (Robert) of Charlotte, NC; her son, Rodney Carr (Lorre) of Valdosta, GA; six grandchildren, Robbie Rogers (Nikki), Hunter Rogers (Jessica), Anna Rogers, Morgan Carr, Allison Carr and Caleb Carr; five great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Caiden, Zinaya, Henley and Raelyn; her sister-in-law, E. Ann Carr, Milton, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services were held at 3 P.M. Saturday, January 27, 2024 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services in Georgia. Graveside Services were held at 11 A.M. Monday, January 29, 2024 in Somerville City Cemetery, 250 S. Somerville Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
