Anne Lou (Hayes) Taylor

Anne Lou Hayes Taylor, age 87, resident of Somerville and wife of the late Charles M. Taylor, departed this life Thursday morning, January 12, 2017 at the Bolivar General Hospital in Bolivar, Tennessee.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Taylor were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Richard Nicholas. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Taylor was born September 26, 1929 in Somerville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Hayes and Rose Henley Hayes. She was married July 26, 1945 to Charles M. Taylor, who preceded her in death on November 7, 2006. Mrs. Taylor was employed as a machine operator and in quality control at Salant & Salant for 20 years and at Master Apparel for 16 years before her retirement. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Oakland and was a lifelong resident of Fayette and Haywood counties. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers, collecting dolls, music boxes and reading her Bible.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by three daughters, Shirley Parker (Harvey Wayne) of Somerville, TN, Linda Billings (Solon) of Somerville, TN, Betty Thompson (Frank) of Bolivar, TN; four sons, Ricky Taylor (Millie) of Somerville, TN, Carl Taylor of Somerville, TN, George Taylor of Somerville, TN, Thomas “Pete” Taylor of Somerville, TN; three sisters, Dorothy Mackus of Oakland, TN, Sandra Eaton (Danny) of Memphis, TN, Lagreta Hayes of Oakland, TN; her brother, Dennis Hayes (Janice) of Whiteville, TN; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were six of Mrs. Taylor’s grandsons, Timothy Parker, Chris “Smiley” Parker, Jeremy Napper, Troy Parker, Jason Taylor and Jordan Billings. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Hayes and Sammy Taylor.
