Annie Laurie Grimes

Annie Laurie Grimes, age 93, resident of Arlington, Tennessee, departed this life Sunday morning, November 24, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.

Annie was born December 6, 1925 in Hickory Withe, Tennessee, the daughter of Horace Karr Grimes and Ida Love White Grimes. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School and served her country in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years before her retirement in 1970. Annie was a resident of the Arlington Community since 1993 and a member of Arlington United Methodist Church. She was active with the Montford Point Marine Association.

Miss Grimes is survived by her sister, Mary Young of Memphis, TN and three brothers, Elbert K. Grimes of Memphis, TN, Edward R. Grimes of North Hills, CA and Herbert M. Grimes of Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Karr Grimes and Ida Love White; two sisters, Freddie Aldridge and Verline Grimes Jackson; and three brothers, Davy Grimes, James Grimes and Veotis Grimes.

Memorial Services for Miss Grimes were held at 10 A.M. Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland.
