Annie Reed (McCarley) Myers

January 16, 1927 — September 22, 2012

Annie Reed McCarley Myers of Somerville died peacefully at home surrounded by her family and caregivers on September 22, 2012 at the age of 85. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Somerville on Sunday, September 30 at 2pm. The family will receive visitors from 1 until 2 Sunday afternoon at the church. A Private Interment will be at a later date in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Born in Somerville, TN on January 16, 1927 to Thomas Reed McCarley and Tennessee Virginia Irwin McCarley, she graduated from Fayette County High School in 1945. She and Herbert Ray Myers married on December 22, 1946.

Annie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Somerville.  She and Herbert owned and operated the Myers Flower Shop for approximately 30 years.  Annie designed flowers for all occasions, but especially loved creating floral arrangements for interior design.  She took courses in interior design and decorating and enjoyed working with local homeowners to decorate and furnish their homes.  “Miss Ann” did countless weddings for local brides.  She put her heart in every arrangement with the intent of bringing love and joy to the people whose lives she felt honored to participate in through her work with flowers.

In 1974 Annie and Herbert bought the “old Mayo house” on North West Street next door to the flower shop.  Restoring and decorating the home was one of Annie’s greatest joys.  For over 25 years she participated in a prayer and spirituality study group with lifelong friends.  Annie is loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband Herbert, her son Jeff Myers (Angie), and her daughter Jane Myers Herring (Stan), as well as her three grandchildren, Preston and Peyton Myers and Annie Grace Herring.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First United Methodist Church, 202 S. East Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
