Annie Ruth “Ann” Wright McCulley, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and wife of the late Billy Wayne McCulley, Sr., departed this life Friday afternoon, January 3, 2014 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for six days. She was 64 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. McCulley were conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 8th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. John Ed Watkins of Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Walls Cemetery in the Braden Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. McCulley was born February 15, 1949 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur Wright and Annie Mae Seagraves Wright. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married April 15, 1967 to Billy Wayne McCulley, Sr., a retired automobile mechanic, who preceded her in death on February 23, 2006.
Mrs. McCulley was a member of the Hickory Withe Full Gospel Church and dedicated her life to being a homemaker and caring for her family. She was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and enjoyed yard sales, music and dancing. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who took much pride in her appearance.
Mrs. McCulley is survived by her daughter, Gloria Ann Biggs of Arlington, TN; her son, Billy Wayne McCulley, Jr. of Arlington, TN; two sisters, Artis Kay Smith of Arlington, TN, Barbara Sue Lawrence of Waynesboro, TN; her brother, Charles Arthur Wright of Cordova; three grandchildren, Felicia Nicole Millicon, Darla Ann Mead, Abby Gail Biggs; and her great grandson, Joel Jeremy Scott Mead.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McCulley was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Wright, Daryl Glenn Wright; and her grandson, Jeremy Wayne McCulley.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Mike Lawrence, Dean Smith, Dallas Wright, Alex Wright, Rodney Gruthoff and David Gruthoff.
Honorary casketbearers were Robert Wright, Trey Wright and Preston Ervin.
