Annie Elizabeth Burrows Morrisson, longtime resident of the Braden Community, husband of the late Floyd Odell Morrison and a person active in the religious, community and agricultural affairs of Fayette County for many years, died at 3:40 P.M. Sunday, January 27, 2008, at the Methodist Hosptial-Germantown where she had been a patient for the past 10 days. She was 82 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Morrisson were conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 30th at the Braden United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Stubbs, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Arlington Cemetery at Arlington, TN. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Morrisson was born June 9, 1925, in the Fisherville Community of Shelby County, the daughter of the late Hunter Eugene Burrows and the late Dorothy Earl Morton Burrows, early residents of the Fisherville area. She was educated in the public school system of Shelby County and was a graduate of the Collierville High School. Mrs. Morrisson was married December 28, 1944, to Floyd Odell Morrisson, well-known retired Fayette County farmer and landowner, who preceded her in death. Mr. & Mrs. Morrisson were active in the Fayette County Farm Bureau throughout their lives and Mrs. Morrisson was a former Board Member of the local.Farm Bureau Women.
Mrs. Morrisson was a homemaker throughout her life and was associated with her husband and family in the operation of their farming interests before retirement. She was a longtime member of the Braden United Methodist Church where she participated in numerous church activities that included serving as a Sunday School Teacher, President of the United Methodist Women and active in the District and Conference Levels of the Methodist Church. Known for her beautiful church devotions, she will be remembered as a wonderful mother and wife who received much enjoyment in caring for her beautiful flowers, cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, needlepoint and quilting.
Mrs. Morrisson was known for her patience of Job and a person who accepted others. Her motto for living that she shared with her family throughout her life was "If you can't say anything good, then say nothing at all." She lived a life that most people could only hope to measure up to and devoted her life to her family, church and friends.
Mrs. Morrisson is survived by three daughters, Ginger Stevens of Atlanta, GA, Bettye Milton (Cliff) of Bartlett, Linda Howard (Darrell) of Arlington; two sons, Floyd O. Morrisson, Jr. (Pam) of Braden, Thomas A. Morrisson (Amy) of Somerville; three sisters, Sue Morman of Summerfield, FL, Dot Thompson of Olive Branch, MS, Jessie McEntyre of Germantown; six brothers, Ralph Burrows of Rossville, David Burrows of Fisherville, Richard Burrows of Amherst, Ohio, Jack Burrows of Guntown, MS, Joe Burrows of Vina, AL, Johnny Burrows of Moscow; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Joe Howard, Clay Howard, John Morrisson, allen Morrisson, Ed Stevens and Griffin Morrisson. Honorary casketbearers were special friends of her church and community.
The family request that memorials be directed to the Building Fund of the Braden United Methodist Church, 230 Hwy. 59, Braden, TN 38049.
