Annie Wilma (Billingsley) Griffin

March 11, 1921 — October 13, 2014

Annie Wilma Billingsley Griffin, resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Thomas Griffin, departed this life Monday morning, October 13, 2014 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville. She was 93 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Griffin were conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, October 16th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Warren Adams officiating. Interment followed in the Parks Chapel Cemetery in the District 15 Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Griffin was born March 11, 1921 in Aubrey, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Billingsley and Katie Clark Billingsley. She received her education in the St. Francis County, Arkansas Public School System and was a graduate of Forrest City High School. She was married April 20, 1946 to Thomas Griffin, a retired Fayette County farmer, who preceded her in death on December 31, 2001.

Mrs. Griffin was a longtime resident of Fayette County and was a member of the Somerville First United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women and the Community Bible Study. She was employed as an accountant for the Farmers Home Administration for a number of years before her retirement. Reading was a favorite pastime.

Mrs. Griffin is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Rhea (Butch) of Somerville, Martha Pyron of Brownsville; her son, Thomas R. Griffin (Jeanne "Tutu") of Hot Springs, AR; her sister, Kathryn Shappley of Rossville; and three grandchildren, Ryan Rhea (Claudia) of Collierville, Randy Rhea of Somerville and Tommy Pyron of Brownsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Blanche Moore and her brother, Clark Billingsley.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Butch Rhea, Randy Rhea, Ryan Rhea, Tommy Pyron, Ken Crawford and Kevin Crawford.
