Arvey Glenn “Johnny” Scott, resident of Millington, U.S. Army Veteran and husband of Joan Glover Scott died Saturday evening, January 7, 2012 at his residence. He was 80 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Scott were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 10th at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Chris Coil of the Somerville Church of Christ officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bartlett. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Scott was born November 30, 1931 in Macon, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Scott and Nellie Holmes Pleasants. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and lived all of his life in the Memphis area and Macon Community.
Mr. Scott is survived by his daughter, Regina Hagemaster of Atoka, TN; two brothers, William Thomas Scott (Lou) of Oakland, James L. Scott (Flora) of Oakland; two granddaughters, Crystal Wright of Brighton, TN, April Thornton of Munford, TN; and three great grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Sebastian Kramer, James L. Scott, William Thomas Scott, Lawrence Sherrill, Mark Thornton and Chad Wright.
