Audrey Glynn “Petesy” Morris Bedwell, age 87, resident of Fayette County, departed this life December 23, 2016 at the National Healthcare Center of Somerville.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Bedwell were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Somerville First Baptist Church with Dr. Rodney Carr officiating. Personal remarks were given by Bernie Mullikin. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Fayette County, Mrs. Bedwell was born December 13, 1929, the daughter of the late Samuel LaFayette Morris and Lucille Chambers Morris. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of the Fayette County School, Class of 1946. Mrs. Bedwell was married September 6, 1956 to the late Gordon Duane Bedwell of Somerville. She was a retired purchasing agent for the former John Gaston Hospital in Memphis and later the purchasing agent for the Methodist Hospital of Somerville.
Mrs. Bedwell was a resident of Somerville and Destin, Florida for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerville. She was a devoted wife and mother who was active in her church and choir, enjoyed golf, bridge and traveling.
Mrs. Bedwell was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Bedwell who died February 14, 2005 and her sisters and brothers, Vivian Sultis, Bettye Bryson, Fate Morris, Jr. and Carlton Morris.
She will be remembered for her love of family. Mrs. Bedwell is survived by two sons, Gordon Bedwell of Destin, Florida, Chris Bedwell of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; her sister Anne Carr, of The Villages, Florida; and special nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to her caregivers at NHC Healthcare and her special friends Emily Joyce and Preston Douglass and Bernie and Lorraine Mullikin who she dearly loved.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Keith Morris, Rick Kauffman, Terry Dunger, Preston Douglass, Richard "Bubba" Garcia and Matthew Curtis.
The family requests that memorials be directed to First Baptist Church, 12685 S. Main Street, Somerville, Tennessee 38068.
