AVERY DUNCAN WATSON, SR.

AVERY DUNCAN WATSON, SR., resident of the Bolivar Community and Flooring Installer for the Quality Carpet Company in Somerville and Bolivar departed this life Thursday afternoon, May 6, 2010 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson where he had been a patient for 6 days. He was 75 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Family members and Friends gathered for a Service of Remembrance for Mr. Watson at 2 P.M. Sunday, May 9th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Travis Wilbanks officiating. Interment will be private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Watson was born September 10, 1934 in Williston, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Watson, Sr. and Avie Carmichael Watson. He received his education in the Gulf Hammock, Florida Public School System and was a former resident of Crystal River, FL before moving to West Tennessee 18 years ago. Mr. Watson served as a Pentecostal Minister in earlier years and was also employed by the Georgia Pacific Company in past years. He had been employed for 18 years as a Flooring Installer for the Quality Carpet Company with locations in Bolivar and Somerville. Mr. Watson will be remembered as a people person who enjoyed working in his yard and good food. He was a loyal member of the Pentecostal Church and was a avid fisherman in earlier years. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Nancy Watson, who died in 1994.
Mr. Watson is survived by his devoted companion, Geneva Edwards of Bolivar; one daughter, Kay Meyers of Crystal River, FL; two sons: Avery Duncan Watson, Jr. of Williston, FL and Steven Michael Watson of Beverly Hills, FL; his sister, Evalee McDonald of Seminole, FL and his brother, Thomas Jefferson Watson, Jr. of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
