Barbara Louise Archibald Ables, age 70, resident of the Braden Community, retired employee for Federal Express and wife of Clarence Ervin Ables died Thursday morning, September 20, 2012 at her residence.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Ables will be at 2 Saturday afternoon at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment will be in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. A visitation for Mrs. Ables will be from 1 until 2 Saturday afternoon at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Ables was born June 5, 1942 in Crockett Mills, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Joshua Archibald and Mary Lou Harper Archibald. She received her education in the Memphis City Public School System and was a 1960 graduate of the Humes High School in Memphis. She continued her education and was a 1984 graduate of State Tech in Memphis, earning her computer science degree.
She was married April 29, 1983 to Clarence Ervin Ables, a retired electrician, who survives. Mrs. Ables was a member of the Decatur Trinity Christian Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and animals.
In addition to her husband of 29 years, Mrs. Ables is survived by a son, Chad Timothy Ables (Stephanie) of Hernando, MS; her brother, Roy Archibald (Jill) of Huntsville, AL; three sisters-in-law, Gayle Lynch, Dale Huet, Shirley Archibald; 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
Mrs. Ables was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Archibald.
