BARBARA JOYCE VAUGHN BLAYDES

March 12, 1954 — August 18, 2008

BARBARA JOYCE VAUGHN BLAYDES, a resident of Collierville and former longtime resident of the Moscow Community in Fayette County, died at 2:27 A.M. Monday, August 18, 2008 at her Collierville residence where she had resided for five years. She was 54 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blaydes were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, August 20th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with the Rev. Lynn Eagan, Retired Minister of the Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow, officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery on Highway 57 East of Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Blaydes was born in Fayette County on March 12, 1954, the daughter of Frances Juanita Kee Vaughn and the late Harry Mix Vaughn. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School system, a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville and continued her education in Medical Technology programs in Memphis.

She was a member of the Morris Memorial Baptist Church at Moscow and was a lifelong resident of Fayette and Shelby Counties. Before her illness, her employment included serving as a Key-Punch Operator for the Arlington Developmental Center, serving in the Payroll Division of the Memphis Light Gas & Water Department and office responsibilities at the Conwood Corporation (Old Spice Division) in Memphis.

Mrs. Blaydes will be remembered as a family-oriented person who enjoyed special times with her nieces and nephews.

Survivors of Mrs. Blaydes include her mother Juanita Vaughn of Collierville; two sisters, Frances Smith of Moscow and Sheila Mask of Collierville; her maternal grandmother Evelyn Holden Sprayberry and step-grandfather Dallas Sprayberry of Memphis and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Brad Adair, Chris Chaille, Nicky Coleman, Danny Dingus, Ronald Tice and Brian Tipler.
