Barbara "Barbie" Smith

Barbara Jean “Barbie” Humphries Smith, age 65, resident of Collierville, Tennessee, departed this life Monday evening, May 20, 2024 at The Arbors at Schilling Gardens in Collierville.

Barbara was born March 6, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Willie James “Jimmy” Humphries and Rose Mary Pappas Humphries. She graduated from Collierville High School and continued her education at Memphis State University. She was employed as an engineering administrative assistant before her retirement.

Barbie loved going to the beach and would take her children, Brad and Brittany, there every year when they were children. She especially loved the palm trees and laying out in the sun. She loved handyman magazines, tools and learning how to “do it yourself” on many projects.

Barbie loved her country music and always busted out the dance moves… she could line dance better than anyone! She loved her granddaughters, Ellie and Addie, very much and would do anything in the world for them. They loved going to their “BB”’s house. She was a true “yorkie mom” who treated her dogs, Oliver, Sadie and Chloe, like royalty.

She and her daughter, Brittany, lived together for much of her life. They both loved going shopping at their favorite stores, Marshall’s and T.J. Maxx. They would often go get Mexican food and margaritas together. She loved her son, Brad, and was incredibly proud to be his mom, and you could tell by the way she talked about him. She worked incredibly hard to provide for and raise her children, and she was the absolute best mom you could ever have.

Ms. Smith is survived by her daughter, Brittany Abrams; her son, Brad Smith; two granddaughters, Ellie Smith and Addie Smith; and three sisters, Donna Pittman, Vicki Whitten and Patsy Hicks.

Graveside Services for Ms. Smith were held at 11 A.M. Friday, May 24, 2024 at Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville with Bro. Mike Foster officiating.
