BARRY DALE MILHORN, a resident of East Prairie, MO. and former resident of the Whiteville and Somerville Communities departed this life at 11:30 P.M. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at his residence in East Prairie. He was 54 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Family members and Friends attended a Service of Remembrance for Mr. Milhorn at 2 P.M. Monday on May 3rd at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. John Ed Watkins, Pastor of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. A reading of a poem was given by a daughter, Kerrie Milhorn. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Milhorn was born June 12, 1955 in Memphis the son of the former Evelyn Skelton and Billy James Milhorn. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was employed as a long distance truck operator by various trucking companies for over 30 years before retiring for health reasons. He was a resident of the Whiteville and Somerville Communities for much of his life before moving to East Prairie, MO four years ago. He was married May 17, 2008 to Amy Sorensen, who survives.
Mr. Milhorn will be remembered as a person who enjoyed visiting with family members and friends. His interests included fishing, camping, boating, traveling, sports and working in his yard.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters: Kerrie M. Milhorn of Covington, TN, Hannah Faith and Jaci Nicole Farquhar both of East Prairie, MO.; his son, Nicholas L. Milhorn of Somerville; his mother, Evelyn Milligan of Whiteville, his father, Billy James Milhorn of Richmond, VA, his sister, Fiera Barnabas of Richmond, VA, two brothers; Blair Milhorn of Richmond, VA. and James Milhorn of Hawaii; two grandsons: Daniel Lee Milhorn and Zachery Shane Cannon both of Somerville. Mr. Milhorn was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Irby and Thelma Skelton. Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Andrew Dinwiddie, Michael Dinwiddie, Richard Dinwiddie, Terry Duke, Michael McCulley and Randy Skelton.
