Beatrice Ann (Leek) Long

July 28, 1944 — March 14, 2017

Beatrice Ann Leek Long, age 72, resident of Somerville, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 14, 2017 at her residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Long were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. John Ed Watkins, pastor of the Mercy Bridge Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Long was born July 28, 1944 in Bells, Tennessee in Crockett County. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Marvin Leek and Ida Bernice Johnson Leek. She was a graduate of Kingsbury High School in Memphis. Mrs. Long was employed as a bail bonds agent for 23 years, at Liberty Bail Bonds and most recently at 1st Choice Bail Bonds, before her retirement. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading and fishing as long as health permitted. Mrs. Long will be remembered as a family-oriented person who loved animals.

Mrs. Long is survived by her sister, Mable Holt of Somerville, TN; two brothers, Rudy Leek (Teresa) of Memphis, TN, Ralph Leek (Angie) of Memphis, TN; and Thomas “Popeye” Cannon, who she treated like a son.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mickey Long who died in 1989.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Dewayne Leek, Raymond Leek, Daniel Leek, Ralph Leek, Rudy Leek and Randall Holt.
