Benjamin Scott Colburn

January 22, 1989 — November 24, 2007

BENJAMIN SCOTT COLBURN a resident of the Arlington Community and Kroger Company employee, died Saturday morning, November 24, 2007 at the Methodist Hospital North in Memphis. He was 18 years of age and died unexpectedly.


Funeral services for Scott were conducted at 7 P.M. Tuesday, November 27th at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lakeland with Rev. Larry Woodruff, Senior Pastor of the church officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Deborah Suddarth, Associate Minister of the church. Additional services were conducted 2 P.M. Thursday, November 29th at The First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma, TN with the Rev. Jim Beatty, officiating. Interment followed in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Tullahoma. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel of Oakland.


Scott was born January 22, 1989 in Memphis, the son of Larry Wayne Colburn, Jr. and Heidi Loudermilk Colburn. He was educated in the public and private schools of Shelby County, played varsity football at Bolton High School and was a graduate of the Gateway Christian School.


Scott was a member of the Bartlett United Methodist Church and was employed in the meat and seafood department of the Kroger Company on Highway 64 at Lakeland at the time of his death. He was a lifelong resident of Memphis and Shelby County. He enjoyed out of door activities that included hunting, fishing and riding his four-wheeler. Automobile repairs and music were favorite pastimes.


In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Adam Colburn of Arlington; maternal grandmother Cecilia Loudermilk of Tullahoma, TN and paternal grandparents Roy and Carolyn Colburn of Holladay, TN.


Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jeff Colburn, Chris Culver, Jon Loudermilk, Aaron Merritt, Brandon Pilkington and John Shields.
Honorary casketbearers were Joey Loudermilk, Donavon Ridings and Vincent Ridings.


The family request that Memorials be directed to the charity or organization of the donor's choice.
