BENJAMIN AARON RUCKER, resident of the Somerville Community,
an enlistee in the United States Marine Corps and son of Kimberly Thedford Rucker and Richard Rucker
died
November 9, 2010. Ben was 24 years of age and died at the
St. Francis Hospital in Memphis
following removal of a large brain mass
.
Services of Remembrance for Ben were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, November 12
th
at the First Presbyterian Church in Somerville with Rev. J. Michael Krech, pastor of the church officiating. Interment followed in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Fayette County near Mason, TN.
Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Ben was born in Memphis on November 4, 1986 and was a 2005 graduate of Fayette Academy. He had attended Southwest Tennessee Community College before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Ben was sworn into the Marines five months ago and was
due to report for training at Parris Island, South Carolina on December 6, 2010.
A Christian and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Somerville, Ben enjoyed special times with his family and friends. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed sports and survival training.
In addition to Ben’s parents, he is survived by his little sister Amanda Rucker of Somerville and his maternal grandparents,
Maurice and Norma Thedford of Chattanooga, Tennessee
.
Ben was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Woodrow and Ileen Rucker of Cleveland, Tennessee.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Clint Cox, Devin Ferguson, James Ginn, Beau Grant, Matt Kelley, Alex Martinez, Bart Payne, Donald Price, Patrick Temple and Blake Wilson.
Honorary casketbearers were Sgt. Hardy, S.Sgt. Helman, Gy.Sgt. Parker & S.Sgt. Robinson.
