Benjamin Oneil "Neil" Gonser, age 68, resident of Moscow, retired trucking operator and husband of Maxie Lavenia Gonser, departed this life Saturday evening, February 27, 2016 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Gonser were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Bobby Clark officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Gonser was born February 1, 1947 in Marmaduke, Arkansas. He moved with his family at an early age and attended the Memphis City School System. He was employed as a truck operator for a number of years and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Gonser enjoyed horses and attending flea markets.
Mr. Gonser is survived by his wife of 44 years, Maxie Lavenia Shearin Gonser of Moscow; his daughter, Paula Fuller (Billy) of Pocahontas; two stepdaughters, Pamela Harris (Jim) of Scott City, MO, Lynn Crutchfield (Tina Hurst) of Lincoln, NE; his stepson, James Wayne Crutchfield (Debbie) of Branson, MO; three sisters, Carolyn Vaughn (Danny) of Wynne, AR, LaVada Montgomery of Paragould, AR, Juanita Wright of Lafe, AR; his brother, Dwight Gonser of Corning, AR; two grandchildren, Christopher Fuller, Danielle Fuller; 10 step grandchildren and 28 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Harrison Gonser and Lillian Justine Melton Gonser; his sister, Ina Oneida Gonser; and seven brothers, James Gonser, O’Dell Gonser, Milan Gonser, Arvel Gonser, J.W. Gonser, Junior Gonser and Irvie Gonser.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
