Bennie “Jay” Rogers, resident of the
Hickory Withe Community, United States Veteran and husband of Brenda Rogers died Friday afternoon November 26, 2010 at his residence
. He was 68 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Rogers were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday November 30th at the First Baptist Church at Hickory Withe with Rev. Eddie Little of the church, officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Rogers was born in Hodge, Louisiana on January 10, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Zack Rogers and Nina Lou Yeager Rogers. Mr. Rogers was educated in Delhi, Louisiana Public School System and was a veteran of the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. Mr. Rogers was married June 21, 1970 to the former Brenda Jane Tankersley, who survives.
A Christian and a devoted member of Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, Mr. Rogers will be remembered for his wood carvings and his interests in writing, hunting, fishing and horses. He had been a resident of the Hickory Withe Community for the past forty-two years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Rogers is survived by his daughter Heather Maillet of Lakeland, his son, Zack Rogers (Angela) of Collierville, his sisters, Faye Barfield of Braden, Marcel Campbell of Braden, his brother, James Rogers of Delhi, Louisiana and two grandchildren, Jacob and Laurel Rogers of Collierville.
