Bernice Sigler Moore, longtime resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Calvin Moore died Thursday morning, December 16, 2010 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville where she had been a resident for over five years. She was 87 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Moore were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, December 18 th at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Phil Lovelace of Brownsville, former pastor of the Somerville First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Moore was born on May 4, 1923 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Sigler, Sr. and Effie Marie Cozart Sigler. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and married February 21, 1943 Calvin Moore, who preceded her in death on February 2, 2006.
Before her retirement Mrs. Moore was employed as manager for Guthrie & Rosser Furniture Company and Taylor’s Outlet, both in Somerville. She was a longtime member of Somerville First Baptist Church and was known for her devotion to her family. Mrs. Moore will be remembered as an avid reader and a gifted seamstress who enjoyed flower gardening and church trips with her friends. She was known for her love of brilliant colors with her favorite being red.
Survivors of Mrs. Moore include her son Calvin Moore, Jr. of Somerville and her sister, Delores Feathers (Bobby) of Hornsby, TN.
Family and friends served as casketbearers family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First Baptist Church, 12685 S. Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
