Bernice Jacobs Taylor Boswell Minner, resident of the Somerville Community and retired Somerville salesperson departed this life Wednesday afternoon, April 3, 2013 at the Pine Meadows HealthCare Center in Bolivar where she had been a patient for four years. She was 94 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Minner were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, April 6th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Dr. Ken Story of the Somerville First Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Minner was born June 7, 1918 in Leonard, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Judson Jacobs and Sallie Emma Burch Jacobs. She received her education in the Fannin County, Texas Public School System and was a resident of the Somerville Community for a number of years before becoming a resident of Pine Meadows.
Mrs. Minner was a homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years enjoyed serving friends and family members in the Somerville Community while employed by the Ben Franklin Variety Store and Shinault’s Grocery and Market. She was a member of the Somerville First Baptist Church and had a lifelong love of quilting and needlework.
In later years, Mrs. Minner enjoyed her family home in Somerville that she shared with her sister and brother as long as health permitted. She was devoted to her family and will be remembered for her quiet mannerisms and neat appearance.
Mrs. Minner is survived by three sons, Ralph Taylor (Linda) of Somerville, Don Taylor (Carolyn) of Garland, TX, Johnny Boswell (Sheila) of Medina, TN; her brother, James (Jimmie) Jacobs of Bolivar; three grandchildren, Kathy Davis (Terry) of Somerville, Laura Rivera (Julio) of Coppell, TX, Paul Taylor of Carrollton, TX; and two great granddaughters, Kailey Rivera and Ashley Rivera. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Sparkman, Frances Kiefer; and three brothers, John Mack Jacobs, Bobby Jacobs and George Jacobs.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Terry Davis, Carl McCaskill, Gary McCaskill, Bill Northern, Jerry Redfearn and Scott Simmons.
