Bert Wilson

Bert Ray Wilson, Sr. resident of the Somerville Community and retired Conwood Corporation employee in Memphis died Thursday morning, December 23, 2010 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville where he had been a resident for five years. He was 84 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral Services for Mr. Wilson were conducted at 10 A.M. Monday, December 27
th
at the Graveside with Rev. Carl Doyle of Oakland First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Wilson was born in Collierville, TN on October 10, 1926 to Carrie L. Joyner Wilson and John C. Wilson, who preceded him in death. Mr. Wilson was educated in the Shelby County Public School System and in younger years was employed as a Livestock Trader.
Mr. Wilson was a member of the Raleigh Baptist Church in Memphis and retired from the Conwood Corporation where he was a Press Operator for over twenty-six years. Mr. Wilson will be remembered as an outdoorsman who enjoyed farming and livestock.
Survivors of Mr. Wilson include his son, Bert Ray Wilson, Jr. of Memphis, his stepsons, Leslie Trammell of Dallas, TX, Bobby Trammell of Houston, TX, his sister, Chelsie Huston of Atoka, TN, his brother, Clyde Wilson of Potts Camp, MS and two grandchildren, Peyton Wilson and Sarah Wilson of Memphis. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Herbert Wilson.
