Bertha Ella B. (Joyner) Bobbitt

May 20, 1925 — February 9, 2016

Bertha Ella B. Joyner Bobbitt, age 90, resident of Williston and wife of the late Wilbur F. Bobbitt, departed this life Tuesday morning, February 9, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Bobbitt were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Gary Joyner officiating. Personal remarks were given by Tyler Malone. Interment followed in the Macon Cemetery in the Macon Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Bobbitt was born May 20, 1925 in Williston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Cleveland Joyner and James Zethra Woodard Joyner. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married October 17, 1943 to Wilbur Franklin Bobbitt who preceded her in death on September 14, 2008. Mrs. Bobbitt was employed as a factory worker for Troxel Manufacturing in Moscow before her retirement. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of the Fayette County area. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, working on puzzles and attending yard sales.

Mrs. Bobbitt is survived by three daughters, Joan Henley of Macon, Peggy Frost of Collierville, Patsy Preston (Wayne) of Williston; two sons, Billy F. Bobbitt of Olive Branch, MS, Bobby Bobbitt of Oakland; her sister, Birdie Bobbitt of Olive Branch, MS; three brothers, Wilbur Joyner of Williston, Hillard Joyner of Tupelo, MS, Morris Joyner of Savannah; twelve grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gussie Spicer and four brothers, Henry Joyner, Vance Joyner, Hershel Joyner and Willard Joyner.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jackie Sisco, Malcolm Lessel, Robert Beavers, Tyler Malone, Jeff Malone, David Henley, Barry Lee and Colt Reese.
