Beth Ann Prather Webb, resident of the Somerville Community, wife of Ron Webb and a person who will be remembered for her love and concern for the young people of the community departed this life Friday afternoon, April 19, 2013 in the comfort of her home. She was 52 years of age and left a legacy of compassion and kindness for the many lives that she touched.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Webb was conducted at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 23rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. John Sartelle and Rev. Chris Treat of the Christ Presbyterian Church in Somerville officiating. Bible Scripture readings were given by Shea Gould and McKenzie Bullwinkle. Special music was provided by The Bowens and Shannon Kee. Personal remarks and reflections were given by Bethany Barton, Gina Harris and Stacey Stevens. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Webb was born May 16, 1960 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde H. Prather and Mary Ellis Taylor Prather. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was married February 14, 1982 to Ron Webb, a well-known character coach and youth leader, who survives.
Mrs. Webb was a resident of Memphis before moving to the Somerville Community a number of years ago. She became involved in the youth, church and religious activities of the community, serving in many of the religious programs for the young people of the area. She also enjoyed serving as a wedding planning coordinator and will be remembered for her Christian values and her love for family and friends. Camping, fishing and traveling were favorite pastimes for Mrs. Webb.
Beth enjoyed life and her positive attitude in the face of a devastating illness inspired everyone who knew her. She is remembered by those who love her as one who modeled the importance of hard work, independence and patience. Beth saw good things in unexpected places and endured suffering with grace.
In addition to her husband of 31 years, Mrs. Webb is survived by her stepdaughter, Stacey Calendar of Jackson, MS; her stepson, Rusty Webb of Coldwater, MS; her sister, Mary Harrell of Somerville; two step granddaughters, Carrie Webb of Horn Lake, MS, Breanna Webb of Horn Lake, MS; her step great granddaughter, Braylynn Kay Haley of Horn Lake, MS; and her niece, Jessica Cox of Woodbury, MN.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Elliot Rike, Trent Johnson, Michael Cowell, Clayton Canady, Austin Campbell, Robert Tapp and Jason Stephens.
Honorary casketbearers were the young people that had been touched by Beth’s Christian Ministry.
