Betty Sue Blair Adams, resident of Horn Lake, Mississippi, former resident of Fayette County and wife of Earl Adams died Thursday morning, July 19, 2012 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi, where she had been a patient for eight days. She was 62 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Adams will be conducted at 10 A.M. Monday, July 23rd at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Dr. Frank Huddleston of the Braybourne Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi officiating. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery near Williston. A visitation for Mrs. Adams will be from 9 to 10 Monday morning at the Peebles Main Chapel in Somerville. Arrangements are provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Adams was born August 21, 1949 in Manila, Arkansas, the daughter of the former Mavis Corrine Byars and the late James Andrew Blair, Jr. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and attended Bartlett High School. She was first married to Dan White of Somerville, who died at an early age and was later married to Earl Adams, a retired minister and property maintenance superintendent, who survives.
She had been a resident of Horn Lake, Mississippi in recent years and was a member of the Braybourne Baptist Church at Olive Branch, Mississippi. Mrs. Adams served as a caregiver throughout her life. She was the oldest of seven children and assisted in caring for her younger brothers and sisters at an early age. She enjoyed cooking and also served as a caregiver for the elderly in later years.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Adams is survived by her son, Daniel Cory White of Cabot, AR; her mother, Mavis Howell of Byhalia, MS; three sisters, Linda Clark of Byhalia, MS, Carolyn Pitts of Sparta, TN, Ann McNabb of Somerville; her brother, Hoss Howell of Senatobia, MS; and her grandson, Colton Daniel Vosburg.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Vosburg; and two brothers, Bobby Ray Blair and James Roy Blair.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Braybourne Baptist Church, 13311 Goodman Road, Olive Branch, MS 38654.
