Betty Jean (Kelley) Darnell

Betty Jean Kelley Darnell, age 79, resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late James Travis Darnell, departed this life Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2015 at the Pine Meadows Nursing Home in Bolivar.

Graveside Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Darnell were conducted at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, May 19th with Dave Biter of Oakland officiating. Interment followed in the Old Union Cemetery at Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Darnell was born July 19, 1935 in Somerville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jess Kelley and Mae Francis Rodgers Kelley. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1953 and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. She was married March 31, 1953 to James Travis Darnell who preceded her in death. Mrs. Darnell was a member of the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed reading, singing and her cats.

Mrs. Darnell is survived by her brother, Raymond Kelley, Sr. of Pickwick Dam and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Billie Jo Kelley and two brothers, Tommy Kelley and Ronald Wayne Kelley.
