Betty Ray (May) German

Betty Ray May German, age 78, resident of Toone, Tennessee and wife of the late James Andrew German, departed this life Sunday morning, May 6, 2018 at her residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. German were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Willie Crowley officiating. He was assisted by Gina Powers. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. German was born January 17, 1940 in Middleton, Tennessee. She received her education in Braden, Tennessee and was married July 9, 1955 to James Andrew German. She was a homemaker throughout her life and a resident of the Toone area for 40 years. Mrs. German was a member of the Church of Christ in Whiteville and she loved taking care of babies. She enjoyed singing and cooking. She was the strong heart of the family and will be remembered for being a thoughtful person with a contagious smile.

Mrs. German is survived by two daughters, Virginia Charlene German (Gordon Watts) of Memphis, TN, Lisa Carole German of Toone, TN; two sons, Billy Paul German (Kay) of Toone, TN, James Madison German (Jamie) of Toone, TN; her sister, Patsy Pitts (Glen) of Memphis, TN; her brother, J.T. May (Maxine) of Memphis, TN; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew German who died October 2, 2003; her parents, Jim Lee May and Velma Marie Blackwell May; three sisters, Lucille Gullick, Maxine Brooks, Dementra Stice; and her brother, Johnny May.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Matthew German, Johnathan Young, Andrew Young, Blake Vann, Aaron Gibson and Rickey Young. Honorary pallbearers were Gordon Watts, Dude West, James Ivy, Andy Ivy and Jeremy Russell.
