Betty Ruth (Kissner) Johnson

December 9, 1931 — October 27, 2015

Betty Ruth Kissner Johnson, age 83, resident of the Williston Community and wife of the late Floyd Vernon Johnson, departed this life Tuesday morning, October 27, 2015 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Johnson were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Freddie Cliffts, pastor of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Johnson was born December 9, 1931 in Clarksville, Tennessee. She moved with her family at an early age to Shelby County and received her education at Bartlett High School. She was married August 2, 1952 to Floyd V. Johnson and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Johnson was a longtime resident of the Williston Community and was employed as a cashier at the Carlton Sunflower grocery store before her retirement. She enjoyed crafting, making jewelry, wreaths and blankets.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Marybeth Umbarger (Jimmy) of Somerville, Sandol Johnson of Williston, and her granddaughter, Sophie Umbarger of Somerville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd V. Johnson who died August 2, 2013; her parents, Wesley Kissner and Ruth Finn Kissner; her son, Floyd V. Johnson, III; and her sister, Martha Jean Harrison.
