Betty Lou (White) Snowden

Betty Lou White Snowden, age 76, resident of Somerville and wife of Jimmy Snowden, departed this life Tuesday evening, November 15, 2016 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Snowden were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Mike Pilcher officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Dane Wood. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Snowden was born October 5, 1940 in Whiteville, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1959 and was married February 15, 1963 to James Wilson Snowden, Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Somerville where she taught Sunday School and loved going to the Community Bible Study. Mrs. Snowden enjoyed preparing food, reading and studying her Bible, special times with her family and singing in earlier years.

Mrs. Snowden is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Wilson Snowden, Sr. of Somerville, TN; her daughter, Amy Morrisson (Tom) of Somerville, TN; her son, James Wilson Snowden, Jr. (Kristi) of Somerville, TN; two sisters, Judy Wilder (Shelton) of Longtown, TN, Brenda Jones (Paul) of Oakland, TN; and two grandchildren, Julia Cross Snowden and Caleb Powell Snowden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben Ellis White and Leona Bivens White and two sisters, Jo Frances Bateman and Gail McCall.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Bradley Jones, Danny Pattat, Taylor Sullivan, Bill Walker, John Wilder and Joseph Wilder.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Shiloh United Methodist Church, 2725 Yum Yum Road, Somerville, TN 38068.
