Betty Jean (Williams) Parsons

August 3, 1937 — October 23, 2015

Betty Jean Williams Parsons, age 78, resident of the Somerville Community and wife of Joe Parsons departed this life Friday morning, October 23 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Parsons were conducted at 3 P.M. Monday, October 26th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Stan McDaniel, pastor of the Somerville First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel in Somerville.

Mrs. Parsons was born August 3, 1937 in Richland, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Frank Williams and Berma Belle Harbuck Williams. She received her education in the Stewart County School System in Georgia and married Joe Parsons on October 27, 1955. She has been a resident of Fayette County since that time and was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1950. Mrs. Parsons enjoyed gardening, needlepoint sewing, crafts, fishing and cooking.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Joe Parsons of Somerville;  two daughters, Marianne Parsons DeAngelis (Raymond) of Germantown and Janet Parsons of Bartlett; one granddaughter, Nicole Alvarado Ramirez (Anthony) of Oakland; and two great grandchildren, Lucy Kate Ramirez and Elliot Graham Ramirez.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Jo Parsons Alvarado.

The family requests that memorials be directed to First United Methodist Church, 202 E. South Street, Somerville, TN  38068.
