BETTY BABB SKELTON

December 7, 1932 — September 25, 2009

BETTY BABB SKELTON, a resident of Memphis with family members who formerly lived in Fayette County died at 6:20 P.M. Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital. She was 76 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Funeral services for Ms. Skelton were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, September 28th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. David Looney, Pastor of the Bolivar Church of Christ, officiating. Interment followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar Avenue in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Ms. Skelton was born December 7, 1932 in Leachville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Gleda Babb.

She moved at an early age with her family to Memphis where she was educated in the Memphis Public School System.

She was a United States Government Employee for over forty-three years and served as a Computer Operator for the Federal Aviation Administration in Memphis before her retirement fifteen years ago.

Mrs. Skelton was a member of the Forest Hill Church of Christ and will be remembered for her love of animals.

She held a special closeness to her miniature schnauzer, "Chelsea".

Survivors of Ms. Skelton include her daughter, Barta Johnson (Danny) of Lakeland, TN and her sister, Sharon Aston of Jackson, TN.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers included Danny Johnson, Vic Vaden, Bill Aston and Trey Aston.
