Betty Jo Conner Johnson, age 70, resident of Somerville and wife of the late Al Burton Johnson, departed this life Wednesday morning, January 11, 2017 at her residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Rhesa Davis, pastor of the Feathers Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment will follow in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. A visitation for Mrs. Johnson will be from 12:30 to 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Johnson was born April 4, 1946 in Whiteville, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1964 and was married July 13, 1976 to Al Burton “Rat” Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Feathers Chapel Baptist Church and a homemaker throughout her life. She was a lifelong resident of the Fayette County area and enjoyed crocheting, fishing, collecting coins and had a special love for her pets.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by two stepdaughters, Melanie Johnson of Wewahitchka, FL, Peggy Eskew of Rosamond, CA; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Burton Johnson who died September 12, 2014; her parents, James Chester Conner and Mary Jo Goodman Conner; and her brother, Jack Conner.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Vince Martinez, Michael Score, Jonathan Score, Terry Glover and Eddie Maher.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Feathers Chapel Baptist Church, 3120 Feathers Chapel Drive, Somerville, TN 38068.
