Beverly Joyce Tucker Stricklen, resident of the Oakland Community, former resident of Bartlett and wife of Donald Ray Stricklen departed this life Friday afternoon, October 4, 2013 at her residence. She was 72 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Stricklen were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, October 7th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with James Jameson, Garrett Best and Joe McDaniel officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Stricklen was born June 1, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Seth Edgel Tucker and Opal Berneice Fain Tucker. She received her education in the Del City, Oklahoma Public School System and was married August 4, 1959 to Donald Ray Stricklen, a retired Church of Christ minister, who survives.
A devoted Christian and homemaker, Mrs. Stricklen was involved with her husband in his church ministries in various communities for a number of years and found much enjoyment in visiting with family and friends, teaching the Bible to children and ladies church groups and Bible studies. She was a member of the Oliver Creek Church of Christ at the time of her death. Her interests included cooking and sewing and she will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband of 54 years, Mrs. Stricklen is survived by two daughters, Laurie Betts (Robby) of Arlington, Christa Wornock (Tommy) of Little Rock, AR; her son, Todd Stricklen (Peggy) of Arlington; her brother, Jerry Tucker of Woodward, OK; and her grandchildren, Kevin Betts, Kristen Betts, Emily Wornock and Bryan Wornock.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Brown and two half-brothers, Donald Tucker and Allen Tucker.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Robby Betts, Kevin Betts, Tommy Wornock, Bryan Wornock, Dustin Stewart and Tommy Lambert.
